Om Mantra: Chanting Counter
Updated 11 October 2026
Microphone and audio
Om Mantra: Chanting Counter uses microphone access during an active practice to estimate chanting repetitions and display the waveform. Audio is processed in memory on your device. The app does not save audio files, upload audio, identify speakers, or send audio to speech recognition services. Microphone counting stops when you pause, finish, or send the app to the background. You can revoke microphone permission in Android settings.
Your journal and preferences
Your journal records, including session dates, durations, chant counts, optional reflections and feelings, bookmarks, and practice settings, stay in local storage. They show your journal, totals, streaks, and saved teachings. Journal records and their contents are not uploaded. The Android app disables automatic app-data backup. Separate usage analytics on Android reports generic practice starts and completions without journal contents, feelings, or chant counts.
Bluetooth and Zen mode
The app can use an audio input already connected to your phone, including a compatible Bluetooth headset. Audio routing information is used only on your device. Optional Zen mode requires Android Do Not Disturb access to silence notifications and calls during practice while leaving alarms available. Your previous setting is restored when you pause, finish, or leave. The app does not read your notifications, messages, contacts, or call history. You can disable Zen mode in practice settings or revoke Do Not Disturb access in Android settings.
Collection and sharing
Starting with Android version 1.0.6, Google Analytics for Firebase is enabled automatically to understand app usage, acquisition, engagement, and retention. There is no in-app analytics off switch. Google processes app-instance identifiers, app and device information, installation and engagement events, event timestamps, and approximate location derived from IP addresses. Named screen views, practice starts and completions, review-request attempts, and store-link openings are also measured. The app adds no audio, journal text, feelings, chant counts, practice-session IDs, or user-provided identifiers to custom events. Firebase attaches its standard measurement identifiers and device information. The developer can view usage reports in Google Analytics. Advertising-ID collection, Google Signals, and ad personalization are disabled. The app has no user account, advertising, subscriptions, or developer-operated backend. Analytics is not enabled in the iOS app or browser preview. Google processes analytics under its own privacy policies, including https://policies.google.com/privacy and https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Retention, deletion, and security
Local journal entries and preferences remain on your device until you clear app storage or uninstall it. The developer cannot retrieve or restore your journal. Data is kept in app-private storage and depends on your device security. Individual analytics event and user data retention is set to two months; aggregated reports may remain longer under Google Analytics policies. Removing the app or clearing its storage does not automatically delete analytics already processed by Google. Analytics uses encrypted connections, and microphone audio and journal records remain on your device. Contact the privacy email below with questions about analytics data.
External links and support
Opening a scripture reference or another external link launches a separate website or app, whose privacy policy applies. Optional Google Play review prompts let you submit a rating or review directly to Google Play. Rate the app in Settings opens the Google Play listing. Google Play controls whether its native prompt appears and how submitted reviews are processed or published. No audio or journal entries are attached. If you email support, your email provider sends the information you include to the support address. Support correspondence is used to answer your request; you can request its deletion by contacting the same address.
Policy changes
This policy describes the current version of Om Mantra: Chanting Counter. Changes to how data is handled will be reflected in an updated policy and effective date. The app is intended for personal chanting and contemplation and is not directed at children.
